A Perfect Synthesis of Sun, Land, and Careful Stewardship.
One thousand feet above downtown Sonoma sits the five-acre estate of Liquid Sky Vineyards, in a mountainous region known as the Moon Mountain AVA. Surrounded by rough terrain yet graced by views of the Pacific Ocean, our unique location basks in the sun of the long summer days and is cooled by the night-time breezes. Floating above the fog line, our fruit is allowed ample time to completely ripen, developing rich, complex flavors and the firm, deep structure typical of wines from the Moon Mountain AVA.
The volcanic soils of Moon Mountain are thin and arid, causing vines like ours to work harder to survive and produce. The yields are low, which gives the dark grapes a more concentrated, flavorful, and aromatic character. An ideal spot for Cabernet and Rhone-style varieties, our rugged hillside vineyard currently includes 5 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon and Rhone varietals. Our vineyard, which spans a rocky hillside with sweeping southwest exposure, has been producing award-winning wines with intense fruit and color since 2007.
The grapes in the Liquid Sky vineyard are organically farmed and managed by renowned vineyard manager Phil Coturri & wine maker Tim Milos, who follows principles centering on diverse cover crops, composts, careful use of irrigation, and constant attention to the development and maturity of flavors. Phil’s respect and conservation of the land allow the grapes to thrive while maintaining the landscape in its most natural form.
